Greetings:

I have been fortunate enough to secure a seat for both the Brighton and Hammersmith shows, a most overhelming prospect to say the least.

I would greatly enjoy meeting you all, so I hope a before (and possibly after) meeting place can be established. I haven't any ideas, I'm afraid, but whatever is decided I'll be there! smile

Look forward to meeting you, Dave, and everyone else.

Cheers -
Volglory

I know Brighton quite well as I used to live 20 mins from there. There is a large pub called the King & Queen near St Peters church. Don't hink that's too far from the Dome. Will be large enough for a Voxgate.

I'll be arriving in Brighton by train around 17:30, and I believe Mr Chappie will arrive earlier than that to beat the traffic.

I'll chase my friends for some pub recommendations. I guess we just need to make a decision and publish it here before the tour starts next month.

Anyone else get their Brighton tickets yet? I ordered mine through ticketmaster and even paid for expedited FedEx delivery. Still nothing, just wondering if i am the only one. Anyone come up with anything definitive for a pre-show gathering?

You're going to this show with Lynne aren't you, David?

I don't if she has mentioned it but I e-mailed her a map of Brighton so you can see how far the venue is from the station. I'll be e-mailing her train times back from Brighton to London & ticket prices this weekend.

I didn't get round to it at the weekend Lynne/David. Will definitely do it in the next couple of days for you.

Incidentally, if anyone else needs a copy of the map showing the Brighton venue & the route from the station, e-mail me through the forum & I will be happy to oblige.

I'll be in Brighton...Always loved it there for concerts...saw 2 Ultravox concerts of my 13 at the Brighton Centre on the seafront. First time at the Dome and I think it looks a great venue.

I hope you all love it..especially those coming from the Americas....Such dedication after all these years deserves a great night.

Anyway...see you all there

I did too when I lived in Burgess Hill. Also saw concerts at the Dome, Zap Club & what used to be the Top Rank nightclub. No idea what it's called now but it was behind the Brighton Centre. Oh yes, & saw Manic Street Preachers at the B C East Wing, or was it West Wing? Was a long time ago - Richie Edwards was in the band.

Hi David-
Johnny in San Francisco here. I'm still waiting for those tix as well. The ticketmaster site says they've not been dispatched and I noticed someone on Ebay selling Brighton tix with a note saying they'd be 'sent as soon as the promoter dispatched'. I'm assuming they'll be sent soonish. They'd better be. Fingers crossed!

Greetings, Dave. I too the other day realized my Brighton ticket had not yet arrived to me, and this a bit of concern. I would not want to be on my way to Brighton and have the ticket arrive at my home after I've left! bemused

Would be greatly appreciative if you could let me/us know when you do receive your Brighton ticket(s). I'll do the same.

As for a meeting place in Brighton (aka a Brighton Voxgate), I'm not real familiar with the area and it sounds like a few others here have already come up with some ideas. Nonetheless, I'll just throw this one in there for slim consideration: Mama Cherris Soul Food Shack,Cajun food. Saw the place on Gordon Ramsey's show and thought it was a pretty cool place...at the time. However, after reading some recent reviews of the place, doesn't sound like it's quite up to par. Nonetheless, if she's not busy it might allow us to get a large group in there wink

But again, I'm not familiar with Brighton so I would be most pleased to meet anywhere before the concert there. I truly think we need a Brighton Voxgate, and if I can be of any assistance in coordin Volglory ating this, please do not hesistate to ask. Would be happy to do all I can to get a Voxgate organized in Brighton.

All the Best -
Volglory

I'm going to the Brighton show. I've not got tickets yet either.

I used to live down the road from Brighton, in Worthing, so I'm a sort-of ex-local. I must confess I've not eaten at any of the mentioned places. Veggies of my acquaintance swear by Terre a Terre .

I can certainly appreciate that, Dave, as we're travelling from a wee way away too and we're leaving tomorrow night. I'm also picking up my tickets from the venue, so I might see you there.

We'll be driving down from London in the morning so we've got time to check out the pier and maybe a drive out to Beachy Head to see where Reap The Wild Wind was shot. I'll have limited computer access, but if a pre-show venue can be decided upon, we can be there.

Good luck ...

My Brighton friends suggested the The Prince Albert, 48 Trafalgar Street, Brighton, BN1 4ED because it is close to the train station and a good pub by all accounts.

Hi Rodney, i will have my mobile with me, and i can get service in the UK on my phone. Feel free to phone me and our group to connect. not sure of the dialing prefix for USA but just add that to my full number which is 516-978-5988. Our group is staying in London as well and traveling by rail to Brighton the same morning you are. We should try to get together, sounds like fun.

Steve W, the Pub you mentioned sounds fine to me, im not sure if there are any other opinions, but it sounds like a plan to me. Rob, Cerise, and Paul, any thoughts/ideas/opinions?

Hi all,

Im new to the forum and the concept of Voxgates but it all sounds like good fun! Iíve lived in Brighton all my life and can certainly vouch that The Prince Albert is an excellent place, certainly easy to find due to its location by Brighton train station. However, it does get very, very busy and seating is limited. It is a popular student and live music venue (Iíve played there myself) which has a showcase for local bands every Thursday upstairs, invariably these bands bring a lot of friends along who tend to hang around downstairs until their friends band plays. Its also at the top of a fairly big hill and quite a walk from The Dome. Like I say, the place is great but do expect it to be busy. Of the places put forward The King And Queen may be the best bet, its about a 3-5 minute walk from The Dome (which would make it easier to get back to after the concert) and spacious with plenty of seating. Of course whatever is decided Iíd like to come and say Hi if no one minds. Of all my friends only 1 is an Ultravox fan and he gets back from Australia the day after the show! Would be nice to share the excitement and say how great it all was (which theres no denying it will be!).

Cheers
Stu

Perhaps this should be the post gig location, and perhaps we can split the pre-gig meet between the 2 - eg: Albert until 6ish. King And Queen from 6ish. Unless that becomes too difficult! smile

I think a change in venue is a mistake at this point, as many of us are set and planned out for our journeys, and some are in the UK already and may not have computer access. I suggest we meet where we already planned and if it seems like a bad idea based upon crowds etc, we simply walk as a group to an alternate venue. If someone here is willing and able to take control and arrange something concrete by Monday, i am all for it, but if not leave things as are.....Just my opinion....anyone else? David

I agree with David - please don't change anything now at the last moment. It took us long enough to plan this, and a change at this point would certainly be confusing, and likely leave some out of the loop. I am flying out tomorrow and wasn't even planning to check this page again before I leave. I think we should leave it alone and meet as planned - thanks!
I can't wait to meet everyone!!! excited

Looking forward to Brighton & meeting my fellow Ontarians Rosengoo & b.dearsley! I've been fortunate enough to be at two previous shows and I can tell y'all that we are in for a treat!
I've got one extra ticket; row g - anyone interested?
See you at The Prince Albert!
