Is anyone planning on going to Numan's Replicas recital in the Toon? Ash, Si, David (Infection Music), Gazza??? Should be a crackin' neet. Anyone fancy meeting up for a drop of the sauce beforehand.

I was going to go but then found out it's his 50th birthday on the 8th so bought tickets for Manchester instead.
Shame as I would have gone for a couple of pints.

Cheers Paul. Mine arrived from Nuworld yesterday along with the Engineers (Live in Sydney - May 1980) album. Both excellent and worth having. However the Nuworld shop is closed for the moment as they've been swamped with orders and it doesn't look like the site can cope with it all. See http://www.numan.co.uk for more info. With regard to the gig in the Toon next Friday, can I suggest a meet up in Wetherspoons at 7pm for a swift swalla. Let me know who'll be there so I'll know who to look out for. Ash - have you managed to persuade the big cheeses at yon sweat shop to recognise that Lord Numan is in town and must be seen and give you the neet off. Si - are you venturing from Darlo? You can kip at the Station Hotel - its pay by the hour you know......er....so I'm told.

There's a note on Gazza's web site that says they got trashed by a virus last week and lost loads of stuff. Numan said that the performance might be a bit rough as he was "feeling the pressure a bit"... Oh dear. Plus... they've had so many orders for Replicas Redux that their online shop has broken. There's a request on his web site to stop using it. Never rains but it pours, eh? (I think our on-line shop is busted... we never seem to get any orders through it!!! )

Hey Dave! The only ropey one was the intro to 'You are In My Vision' I haven't heard that track since I was 12 man! Numan came in too early on his Les Paul, but on the whole the gig was pretty much flawless. The band has changed somewhat to the Xmas '06 Tele-Tour, so has the gear They look more like the mighty 'NIN' than Mr Webb's band of merry men. Access Virus TI's & Alesis Andromeda A6's seem to be the main synth engines now with racks containing Akai samplers etc & run on Mac Powerbooks, very nice indeed. Great replica of 'I Nearly Married A Human' with swirling Mini & Polymoog sound emulations They've got the Polymoog 'Vox Humana' sound to perfection, Ash, Dave & Mike...you'll enjoy it Exile, Davy-B & Co are off to Manchester this Saturday for the show there, it's hard to believe that Numan will be 50 years old this coming weekend!

Yup Newvox, some folks over on AFENet.com are hard to please. Some still think Numan should drag Minimoogs,Polymoogs etc etc around with him on this tour, not a real solution to an easy problem. Plenty of decent 'Analogue Modelling' synthesizers around out there, you just have to know how to use them properly that's all. Unless i need my ears cleaned, it sounded damn fine to me! There is still some remnants of the sounds he was using on the 'Metal Rhythm' tour I.E. Roland D-50 was used on 'Are Friends Electric' & more noticeable 'Cars'...sounds shite, but hardly spoils the tracks themselves. Enjoy the gigs guys And get yer arse along & see Flips band YTDS, if yer going to the Manc gig

Looking forward to the gig. Is there a plan for meeting up in advance? Wetherspoons is the nearest pub and makes a good jumping off point. My tickets say that the gig starts earlier than usual, 730 pm. Is this just a ploy to get us to listen to the support band? D/

Hi Don, Its more the word on the street thats still nit picking about sound quality, the guys at AFE (and other places) have been more favourable than ever. Even those that did have a grip were genuine but understood the reasons for some of the accoustic distortions. What can i say, yes 'Electric' and 'Cars' did rely more on this and dat than the other tracks in the set. On the other end of the spectrum, theres been praise for 'Technical' and 'INMA Human'. The main interesting thing at least for me on this tour, is that its more dates than the 'Telekon Shows'. Still looks as if more could have been booked and the interest is more intense with each 'Album Tour' even though they will stop fairly soon. Theres a possiblity that some other merchandise may be added as the tour progresses, no guarantee on that though.

Berserker! Again, an era of Numan's career that I'd rather forget. I quite liked it at the time and even bought the 'White Noise' live album that followed. Can't listen to them now though...painful! 79-81 for me. Which is why I'm looking forward to Friday all the more.
