Apologies if this is old news, but why not be their "friends" on Myspace.....

Steve Malins on MySpace

John Foxx\'s MySpace page

Definitely worth having a look. There are some of his tracks up there, and John's Blog. Seems like John, himself, is actually posting on there.

Finally a chance to communicate with the man himself....

The facility to E-Mail John has been available for ages - either via Ultravox.org.uk or Metamatic.com ... wink

Didn't know you could email Steve from this site??

Only kidding! Sorry Rob, I know you can get hold of John via these sites, but the Myspace thing is more like a Blog, where things seem a bit more interactive and more personal than just sending an email. I guess it's because I\'ve been on Myspace for quite a while and I'm used to the way it works. If people aren't Myspace members, they can't send comments or post messages on there.

This is quite scary shock shock

Has it really come to myspace for the latest news about John Foxx!!!!

There's a dangerously high risk of credibility erosion here.... <img border="0" alt="[Shake head]" title="" src="graemlins/shakehead.gif" />

The bad thing is it's Myspace... anyone who's actually ON Myspace knows what I mean. biglaugh

The good thing is, Myspace is actually a good tool to find a larger audience who happen to like related bands and get 'em listening to the music, so hey... no harm in it! Either way, I just requested that he or whoever maintains that page adds me. excited

It's certainly been good for me and my own music. Had a lot of interest because of it and got a lot of contacts from it. Got a track played on local radio in the UK from it, and quite a few indie film makers on there want to use some of my tracks. In fact, one of my "friends" asked me today if I want to do a gig at one of his electronica nights. I'm fairly happy with it.

I guess people like JF will get a lot more exposure because of it too.

Yeah it's great in many ways:
it functions almost as a W3C cyber-stalking protocol ;-) in much the way as EZboards did previously - you can just click away "adding friends" and following through other people's friends collections, discovering all sorts of exciting stuff, networking away.

It's also functions beautifully as a kind of "generic press pack" for bands: reasonable quality streams of 4 songs, a gallery of nice photos, a bio, a list of upcoming gigs...

But the site itself is diabolical - style sheet from hell, cookie mayhem, "you need to be logged in to do that" (what, to log in?), it's always "down for maintenance", hideously slow to load all those photos, etc etc etc.

It's also vacuously as hell, people just looking at photos and making inane one-line comments, the cyber equivalent of stumbling drunkenly round some ghastly trendy nightclub, going "MWAH!" to all your luvvie friends.

That is exactly what I was alluding to. Very well put, too. lmao

In fact, my pet name for MySpace is "The Pit of Hell". Even still... John Foxx is now in my Top 8 friends, so I am quite content. biglaugh

Hi
I tried the link for the "My space site". I had no end of crap messages from it, so I gave up. I had a feeling it was going to screw up my PC, so I backed out. Jen I think you chose a good name for it, "The pit of Hell"
evil

As anyone else had problems with it or is it just me?
Regards
Peter

We're using it as a temporary home while our website is being redesigned. Just make sure your popup blocker is on! It is good for finding new music etc.

I wonder if THAT on my space is the real Foxx! I thought I was not used to such things (chatting with fans via e-mail, I mean)...
Too suspicious am I?

It appears to be Steve Malins on behalf of John Foxx... at least at the moment.
