It didn,t take long for John and Louis's new CD Crash and Burn to appear on E-bay. Makes me wonder where these people get copies well beforehand. I don't intend to make other people unnescessarily rich. We all know John works very slow but I think I can WAITING another 49 days !!!..

Hi Peter
I totally agree with you. Now the "Moneymakers" comes out, but I will buy my copy from John and Louis because they had made it - so they shall have the money for their work!

Awesome... thanks Rob!

I hope that, at 7'11", 'Smoke' is another classic Foxx ambient track, along the lines of 'The Garden' and 'Quiet City'?

Looking forward to it!

Cheers...

Hi there Rodney...

>I hope that, at 7'11", 'Smoke' is another classic Foxx ambient track, along the lines of 'The Garden' and 'Quiet City'?

"Smoke" is more like "Quiet City" than "The Garden". Favourites at the moment are : "UltraViolet / InfraRed", "Drive", "Broken Furniture" and "Dust and Light". As I said in the last Metamatic News Update (02.05.2003) - "Crash and Burn" is in the same vein as "The Pleasures of Electricity"... smile

Not only that, but I've just discovered that the Indiana Jones trilogy is being released as a big box set in November. Alright it's a few more months away, but damn...

And no, C&B ain't on Amazon yet.

Is that in the UK? I'm buying too many DVDs as it is, but I never did get all of Blake's 7 on VHS, and I wonder whether there'll be an affordable North American DVD release.

Obligatory John Foxx content: I want those Foxx/Budd collaborations more than I want more Pleasures of Electricity stuff right now, please and thank you.

Amazon will probably only find out about it as the last moment - plus I think they are very short staffed at the moment, this is due to them employing loads of illegal workers that had to be dismissed in a hurry when the government caught up with them!
You are better off trying to get it mail order from somewhere like SisterRay in London - they always have a good stock of Ultravox/John Foxx/Visage/Midge Ure CDs + loads of other great stuff (and no I haven't been paid to right this - it's true!)
Roll on June 23rd (or whatever date it gets released) excited

Sister Ray is on Berwick Street just off Oxford Street. They are usually a couple of quid cheaper as well.

Here's a link to a London Street map showing Berwick Street: http://www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dll?G2M?X=529402&Y=181263&A=Y&Z=1

You can also get to it via Rupert Street off Shaftesbury Avenue [at the Piccadilly Circus end]- take lots of money though, you will be severely tempted by many other good record/cd shops nearby - Sister Ray is in the section of Berwick street marked in orange [on the Western side of the road].

hope that helps

I see Crash And Burn is currently going for 18 on e-bay...

Do these people not think to look on places like Amazon or other on-line stores? It's clearly advertised as a new CD, why pay well over the odds for it? Plonkers! nutjob

As I said earlier Amazon are too slow witted to have it listed in advance of it's release (or even after it's release quite often in the case of John Foxx CDs)
But if people really do want to pay 18 then more fool them, I shall wait for the official release date (not very patiently mind you!) excited

Crash and Burn, the new cd is class.
John has done it again, a classic from beginning to end, great use of synth bass.
Crash and Burn" is probably his most aggresive track since "Young Savage".
Faves at the mo are "dust and light" and "drive". Anyone dissapointed with "pleasure" will not be with this.
Great stuff.
i'M OFF TO PLAY IT AGAIN

(for the benefit of any Americans etc. it's a quote from 'The Fast Show' which you may or may not get in other countries - but trust me it's very funny - I only know of one American who would know it - that'd be Johnny Depp - which is nice!)

anyway what's with these people having the new album already - what an outrage!

Natas is a very lucky boy indeed! The Mr CD copy was a promo that was sent to the shop, and Natas was in the right place at the right time (I know cos I rang the shop). For the rest of us, we'll have to wait until 23rd June, although I appreciate your reviews, Natas, let's have some more!
I mentioned this last year, certain artists (Robbie Williams is one) preview new tracks on their websites - the tracks are only playable for one day and not downloadable - couldn't we have a few off 'Crash and Burn' on the EV?
Cheers

Well, answering an earlier portion of this thread, Sister Ray is on-line and you can find it here:

http://www.sisterray.co.uk/welcome.htm

The bad news is that according to their on-line search engine, they have nothing in stock by either John Foxx or Midge Ure. They have some Ultravox stuff though...

Plonker here!!!! (thanks Si!) Just got my copy with press release. First impressions are that there is something for both camps. Those of you who think that "Quiet City" is truely art, will enjoy "Cinema" and "Once In A While", whilst those of us who love tracks like "Invisible Women" and "Travel" will love "Broken Furniture" and " Sidewalking" and "Dust & Light"....... "they come to visit, when I'm not at home "

I visited Mr CD on Friday 23rd and they had 2 copies of Crash and Burn on display. So after I left there was still 1 left. I don't think these are promo's their just selling the CD before the release date.

Cheers Nexus, but Mr CD haven't got any AGAIN!!!! Unfortunately living in Peterborough means I can't just pop down to London. There'll probably be a message on this thread next week saying: 'Oh I stuck my head round the door at Mr CD and they had FIFTY copies, all in a line by the counter, and I bought 49 of them to auction on ebay!'

Not really of course.
What an impatient lot we are, eh? Only another 4 weeks to go which, bearing in mind we had to wait 12 years after "In Mysterious Ways" for John's next product is just about bearable.

Now, anyone found Cathedral Oceans vol 2 yet? smile

The new album is miles better than 'Shifting City' and is as good, if not better than the last one.

So the release date has been put back to 30 June, eh?

Anyone got any ideas why, if copies are already circulating?

on a stall in Soho - is that the one in Rupert Street? [near to Cheapo Cheapo Records]- or the one in Berwick Street [near to SisterRay]

A word of warning though - you may bump into Steve Strange round that area [or someone dressed very like him!]

Very 'Blue Oyster Club' biglaugh
