The other day I watched the DVD that comes packaged with The Depeche Mode remaster of Construction Time Again and John Foxx gets mentioned in the interview with Gareth Jones.

Seems Gareth did not want to meet DM because he thought they were too 'pop'. Gareth says in the interview: ' my mentor and colleague John Foxx' told him to go meet them. 'Metamatic' gets a mention also, as well as a passing reference to The Garden studio.

John owned The Garden studio at the time Construction was recorded. Lots of Mute artists recorded there. From engineering Metamatic Gareth went on to work with Mute through John Foxx. Funny how fate works... John sold the studio to Matt from 'The The' (Some Bizzare Records) all swings and roundabouts!

It was located in Shoreditch and Bronski Beat also recorded there. It's possible that the commercial success of Metamatic gave John the money to buy it.
