I've been listening to some of my Soft cell collection again over the last couple of weeks, and I noticed that "Memorabilia" (the 12 inch) reminded me of something else all of a sudden.

It's this track from Shifting City. Not the same I know, but a remarkably similar baseline - and 15 years apart. Another of Louis' influences I wonder?
Perhaps any of you DJs out there could do something with this.

Not only, but also. I am as much a fan of Marc Almond as I am of Mr Foxx and I've been trying (for fun) to somehow "link" these two influential iconic artists with a piece of music trivia.
Anyone have any (polite!) suggestions...?

Tara - no! We're taking the thread off topic and we'll have to give ourselves a warning. Quick, get back to Marc Almond...

I know...mascara! They both wore mascara...and wore....er...shoes!

Actually the point of this thread was the similarity (I think) between the two songs I mentioned. :p

But, in a really tenuous vein, the only "link" I have so far uncovered:-

Europe After the Rain entered the Top 40 for just the one week at Number 40, the same week that Tainted Love reached Number One for the first time...September 5th 1981

I'll really must get out more... wink

Okké - how about this one, Birdsong:

call me obsessed but... the Spanish influence on "Europe After The Rain" shows a parallel to the obviously Spanish-oriented Marc Almond tracks "The Desperate Hours" and "Little Toreador In The Rain.

Er...? Yes?

shocked

Ultravox and Soft Cell both recorded three albums and then Foxx and Almond launched solo careers.

I seem to overlooked the obvious fact that "Crash and Burn" and "Heart on Snow" were distributed by Fullfill Records in 2003, both artists releasing these albums under license from their own recording companies (Marc Almond=Blue Star, and John Foxx = Metamatic)!

And in 2006, a new album in the offing from Marc too.
It's great to see him making such good progress after the accident.
He truly is a Fantastic Star and a great inspiration to so many.

A candle is not dimmed by lighting another candle...
