The version of My Sex played on last year's llive dates with the Human League was absolutely fantastic - I didn't know the song before then.

Are there any good live recordings anywhere from those gigs?

A new live album from John would be interesting...

My Sex such a wonderful song. I love the way it is done, John always seems to put a lot of passion in to it whenever it is played. This is one of my favourite songs and there are many version available from the Ultravox era.
The first time I heard John doing My Sex live was in Bielefeld Germany. On the Crash & Burn tour he sung it twice, once slowly like the Ultravox days and the new "modern version" with Louis in the encore.
If you have never heard John with ultravox then I can thoroughly recommend all 3 albums. The're worth there wait in gold.
There are some unofficial boots from the C & B tour.

I Have 'Ha Ha Ha', 'Systems of Romance' and 'The Island Years' compilation - which I bought for 'My Sex' after the Human League gig, though obviously it wasn;t the same as the more up-to-date version he played live. I really wish I'd seen one of the C&B tour gigs after that!

I know about two full gig boots about the Crash & Burn tour - Fibbers inYork and Scala in London but the Scala is sounding better and the atmosphere is great. I know about a boot from the support tour too but there are only 5 tracks on it - but No one driving is included. There exist some great boots from John with Ultravox too...All are worth to listen too!!

Call me a luddite, but how exactly do you get hold of a 'boot'? Back in my day you'd go to a record fair and buy a copy of a copy of a really hissy cassette - is it all done online now?

Oh and yes, I'm aware of the copyright laws and all that, but if a song isn't available to buy legitimately what's the harm in people trading in it?

last year a few of us traded ot some "boots" we had and some of us even sent out copies out of goodwill....Spreading the word so to speak. . I sent a couple of copies of the York gig and they were sent on to others.

While we are on the subject . My side II of that set is scratched . So if someone could send me a copy of my copy ..... Would be grateful..

I remember you sending my copy of the Fibbers gig and I copied for someone else....and so the show went on. Chain distribution was a good idea of yours.

I'm not a massive fan of John's stuff although I do listen to it now and again.

As Furniture said; there were a couple of boots go round here. I'm not a guy who think it's only for me alone... this stuff is for all the fans so I second Mr. Pig's opinion for trading...
It's great the fans share the stuff they have and we can discuss about it. This is my understanding of what real fans should do...AND WE DON'T NEED MONEYMAKERS WITH THE RARE STUFF HERE!!!!

Yes, my Croydon gig only has 5 tracks on it too unfortunately. When I opened up the file it actually had six tracks showing but I then noticed Track 1 was the intro. It's most certainly the same recording as yours.

Posted the cd earlier today.

When I copied the disc I noticed it wasn't 19 minutes long as I previously said, it was actually 80 minutes long !!!! 19 minutes was the duration of the first track only

Anyway, bearing in mind that it took 5 days to send items from Sunderland to Bristol recently.....well..........you know the rest :p

Yes, it's great to have recordings of the gigs you were there. For me it is Mean Fiddler 2001 and Scala 2003. Superb!!!
