Hi Got my boot copy of this fantastic boot but there is no track list or description where it was recorded... Except 1 track it is completely new stuff for me in this kind of music from John. Have anyone this boot with a track list and can tell it here? Or Rob can you help in this if you get a copy? Great stuff!!!!!!!! Thanks to everyone who can help... Bye, Shadow Man

Andy, If it's the copy I did for METAL BEAT then as far as I know it was the Shrewsbury gig that Chris mentioned. Not sure of the exact date and I never had a tracklisting for it. Glad you like it anyway

Dear Chris, this time I haven't a clue about your question. But the idea of identifying "Cathedral Oceans" stuff is not exactly exciting...

Chris, Ash! Thanks for the information. Now I know it was recorded in the Shrewsbury Cathedral. Do you know the date? I think I read in the past John done some concerts like this in the eighties... So Ash - you are right, it is the MP3 copy for Peter. I opened it and found A LOT OF STUFF!!! Thanks for it!! And Natas - it's no problem to do a copy... So this is John's new CD for Christmas for me and Peter ( and everyone who want). A Great Gig!!! I wish I been there Regards, Andreas

Glad you both liked it mate. From what I remember, there was a few gigs on the dvd and although I haven't listened to them all yet I usually convert them one by one and listen to them in the car. By the sound of your feedback Andreas I've got quite a bit to look forward to ASH

Andreas, you're a top bloke . The boot is great, track 2 and 5 must be two of John's finest pieces, if these two never get a propar recording or release then that would be a real shame. Barrowlands boot is on it's way to you mate. Cheers again, you've made an old Foxx fan very happy.

Oh, thanks Natas - but i give the compliment away to Mr. Pig (Ash). Without his help I could never made you glad with this one...Thanks a lot again for this Ash!!! And it is great to see the advertising for this concert! If I read it right, it was on Thursday the 17th March. So now the only secret is the year and the tracklist. I agree with you about the boot. Absolutely great gig. Hope John will do more concerts like this in the future... GREAT SOUNDTRACK OVER THE CHRISTMAS TIME Look forward for the Barrowlands... Bye, Andreas

Hi I have just been lucky enough to hear a boot of this wonderful concert. (well most of it, CO's has this strange habit of making me doze off). Has anyone on this forum fortunate enough to be at this concert? I was wondering whether John worked alone who there were other musicians and what the atmosphere was like in the church? Thank you Mr Pig for making this available for us. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="cool.gif" /> Regards Peter

Glad you like it too, Peter. At least you worked out your personal problems to find your copy.... (You know what I mean ) I'm sure you would go with me, if John would do a gig like this one !? ( But I'm sure you go with me to a gig from John whatever the music style would be ) Bye, Andreas

Could someone PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, upload a torrent of the Catheral Oceans bootleg??? and let me know where I can find it. I am in Australia and John Foxx material is VERY hard to find and JF will probably never tour here. My eternal gratitude in advance. Doug P.S. I found a great site for bootleg torrents (but no JF) http://www.easytree.org/

Pete was late getting to my place in Moseley so we broke the land-speed record to get to Shrewsbury! The concert was atmsopheric, yes (btw, St Chad's is not "Shrewsbury Cathedral"), and went down well - I'd say about half the audience were probably people who'd never heard of John before - though Pete and I both kind of wished it'd been a "normal" JF concert. In the end I didn't get to see one of those until Manchester '03. Pete and I were among a small group of fans who spoke to John after the show - he autographed a couple of guys' JF record collections, I wonder if those two guys are on the forum? Year? I'll get back to you on that one... Cheers, Adrian

Hi everyone Pedant that I am, I have made contact with the administrator of St. Chad's in Shrewsbury asking about this concert, somewhen between 1988 and 1993 - I even sent them the ad. Unfortunately and despite numerous phone calls, they are "unable to confirm" what year this took place. As far as I can make out, there seems to be many pieces played at this gig tho that haven't yet been released on the Cathedral Oceans albums - they seem to be more 'lively' and feature a lot more vocal? So, it's over to Rob and the gigography...

Regards, Andreas I left Moseley in September 1989 so it was definitely before then. I'm pretty sure it was John on his own. I say this because when the concert started there was this guy playing synths and I was expecting John to walk on and join him... and then I realised the guy WAS John... (Well, it was relatively dark - there was no light show!) Throughout the concert there was a slide show of John's well-known statue-face photomontages, so it was pretty unique from that point of view too. Adrian

Thanks for the reply Adrian. So I assume it was 17th March 1988 , because this year was often mentioned. To be sure in this only Rob could give us the answer but it seems it is a big secret???!!! Thanks again Adrian for let us knowing John played on his own. I love this boot and you can be a glad man 'cause you stood at the gig. Bye, Andreas

It's not a secret - honest... But with one thing and another I haven't been able to spend much time here lately. I recently managed to get hold of a promotional poster from this show - that will definitely have the date on it. The poster itself will appear on Metamatic as soon as I get the chance to catch my breath... Any chance that someone out there could please send me a copy of this Cathedral Oceans show on CD? Regards... Rob

CO live. Interesting subject. For me it is a very unusual sound. Nothing like the Official CO but I love to listen to it even if the sound quality isn't that great. Very relaxing. It would be nice to be able to put titles to the tracks but it was a long time ago . I know we will find out more about this particular concert has time goes on. Regards Metal Beat.
