Just noticed this old interview from 2003 on radio Nottingham. Thought it might be of interest.....

'John Foxx should be a name as familiar as Midge Ure, Bryan Ferry and Joe Strummer.

Why? Because he had the chance of performing in all the bands they fronted.

Instead he devoted his life to electronic music, his own record label, video and art. Quite a lot then!

Perhaps this is the reason 'Your Dress' sounded so 'Roxy Music' vocally

I've played that one a couple of times in the past - good interview.

John's Roxy Music influence is evident on several tracks, particularly on The Golden Section, and some early 'Vox stuff.

I could easily imagine Bryan Ferry singing a version of 'The Quiet Men'...!

Interesting. All this occurred in 1983. John had just shelved the 1982 `In the Glow´ album, later to be reworked in 83 as `The Golden Section´. I believe that `Your Dress´ was not part of the `In The Glow´ sessions but later written and recorded, perhaps, as a demo for Phil and Andy. John, as we know, never took Bryan´s role but a Foxx look-alike James Wraith did. The new line-up became known as the Explorers. I remember the `Lorelei´ video and James does look like John with his wavy blonde hair dancing away on the small river boat. Mind you great video and one of my fave tracks. I was swept away by the muse on the video...you can now find me at the edge of the world! eek laugh

Chris C wink
