Why do we like it?

There's a kind of solitary perspective to many of his songs, which puts you into a whole new dimension. The lyrics put you in a new time and place. There's atmosphere, mystery and intrigue. It's not depressing even at its darkest.

If anything, John's distinctive voice and his fantastic use of synths was what drew me to his work in the first place, but that just opened up the door to a whole artistic world of inspiration, audio and visual.

I rank John alongside artists such as Peter Gabriel, David Bowie or Jean Michel-Jarre etc - it's more than just music - it's an experience.

I'm listen to John's music since 28 years now and I have to admit THIS! love is longer than any love to a woman I were with in these years. lmao

He is a high quality artist , who was very kind as I met him . You never know what his music sounds next - it seems he's everytime hungry for new music and projects. I think this is the biggest reason I never lost my interest on his music . There are many good musicians today but John is outstanding for me! I think I listen to his music until I'm 60 years or older lurve .

Hi Alex
Easy question. I don't know where to start. It's a well known fact I've liked John since I first heard Systems of romance. His career is the only artist I've followed 100% and never get tired of. John has done so many things and types of music. From the raw Metamatic, punkish sound of Young savage, easy listening Golden section, disco(ish) Nation 12 and the ambient Cathedral Oceans, and not forgetting Pleasure of Electricity. There's not time to get bored of such a talented artist.

It's certainly a wonderful experience. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="cool.gif" />

I hope the master still has some hidden gems up his sleeve for us in the future. wink

Like Shadowman, I know I'll still be listening to John until the put the lid on my box!!!

Regards
Peter

No, they will play "Pater Noster" and "The Garden" in Heaven. lurve

John is incredibly talented, creative and innovative. I don't think I could ever tire of him.

When i heard the first beats of plaza i knew that the album and johns work in general would be with me forever. I still to this day have never been so impressed by an album on first listen as i was metamatic.

Even though I never could stand "In mysterious ways", I still could frame the album and put it on my wall. Dennis Leigh, master of all trades smile

I rank him on the same level as Bill Nelson though he's not quite the genius Nelson is. But I like John Foxx for pretty much the same reasons - it's the unique, creative weirdness of the music. And I think anyone who listens to this type of music has to be at least a little weird.

I liked John Foxx because back in 1979/80 I was liking a lot of things with synthesizers in. I liked him even more after seeing him on Top of The Pops looking totally cool and detached miming to Underpass. As an adolescent that image appealed, a bit like Numan's tales of alienation and detachment did at the same time.

After that, for some time my idea of what made a good tune coincided with his (ie I liked his songs). And I liked his voice.

That's it. smile

I disagree....and so does Gary Numan!!!! laugh

Bill Nelson's works don't reach the stratospheric artistic heights of Systems of Romance, Metamatic and The Garden.

Bill Nelson is undoubtfully in the same league but not like our John. Mind you Bill does release more albums than John.

That's my opinion.
