As John seems to be taking a stab at subliminal world domination in '06, I wondered if it might be apposite to judge his current level of apparent modern relevance and his related 'cool' factor.

To that end, please feel free to register Mr Leigh's ambient temperature via the simple following pollistic mechanism.

(BTW: For the sake of simplicity, let's assume cold is 'good', and hot is 'not', eh?)

Cromlech, assuming you voted as the 1st one (I was number 2), then we voted for the same song. And what a song, I like it so much!

Same here, though I didn't vote yet. I don't get it at all.

So, if I voted for...say...Burning Car, am I uncool or something? confused2

Sorry all!

I was heavily imbibed when I dreamed this up.

To explain: all the song titles have...in one form or another...a relation to a temperature. I then plucked a likely-sounding temperature and whacked after the song title.

As my hangover is of Apocalyptic proportions I hope the thing about cool being 'good' and hot being 'not' is now self explanatory.

If not, as Midge once finished a live recording, "We'll see you again at Xmas!"...

Well how about for something different! Actually I was thinking the other day why we don't have more polls on this site. Whatever happened to our voting on the bonus tracks for the Island Remasters. Mrs X would have voted for TV Orphans and I would have voted for Radio Beach....

On this one I went for Dust & Light. I feel John is pretty cool with this electronic sound and should take it furtheron their next album. Fusion/Fission would have been my other choice. It's origins are from Metamatic but was reworked for The Garden. A remix version of this today would also sound pretty cool.

Interesting poll, even if I was a bit confused. Although I voted it was more of my favourite song than whether being cool or not.

I do like all the songs though

I feel the height of cool must be a return to the mid eighties - what with a film of Miami Vice coming out, it's time to roll up your jacket sleeves, take your socks off and put your slip ons on etc - so there's only one cool song on there - all together now...'All the stars, all the stars.....'
Cheers

Oh I think I get it now!! nutjob "Running Across Thin Ice With Tigers" would be the coolest/coldest, because of the "Ice." "Stars On Fire" would be the hottest, because of the "Fire." But then, so would "Burning Car," and that was somewhere in the middle, I think! (That's what I voted for, by the way. smile ) So, it's got nothing to do with whether they're "good" or "bad" songs...or at least I hope so, anyway! laugh

The coolest John Foxx track ehh?

Without a doubt, and possibly the coolest track *ever* has to be Ghosts on Water... Still gives me goose bumps.

And, D'ja know...

After all these years, I've just realised that the bonus track Wings and a Wind on The Golden Section is Running Across Thin Ice!! The backing track is obviously the same, so I guess John wasn't happy with the original lyrics/vocals (Mmm, yes, the vocals - not his best).

I must learn to open my ears!

EDIT------

Duh! Just realised what this thread is *Actually* about... Ghosts on (cold) water, anybody?

Must learn to open my eyes too nutjob
