This was one of the lost thread/posts.

I responded to a posting about an interview to which Vladimir posted a link. Two DIFFERENT interviews were being discussed and there was some confucion about this I think.

Herbert - your recollection of an interview in Home and Studio Recording was from October 1984, entitled "From 24 tracks to 8"

Vladimir, your link is to a SoundonSound interview in December 1985 entitled "Recording In Mysterious Ways".

Who else recorded at The Garden?

Obviously we know John did(!) and Depeche Mode recorded one or two of their early albums there...

They did indeed... They recorded their debut album Music of Quality and Distinction (Volume One) there. And both John and Gareth Jones were thanked in among the sleevenotes for their enthusiasm and support. Further details can be found over on Metamatic .

I can remember it....

Lead vocal with shouty Glitter Band backing vocals in brackets after the line...

"We're caught in a TRAP!" (HEY! Woah oh! Woah oh! Ooh!)

Enjoy... laugh

Ages and ages ago I asked John if there had been anyone who he had wanted to get into The Garden Studio, but couldn't? and he replied: Oh quite a few people, but The Cocteau Twins were the ones I really regretted not being able to use The Garden. Siouxsie and the Banshees had the studio for about three months at one point and The Cocteaus rang up and wanted to make an album there before they had their own studio. I was really miffed that I couldn't let them in. I think they're wonderful I really like their music a lot. There were other people who I wanted to use it, Gavin Briars was interested in doing some recording there at one point but it wasn't feasible. I like his stuff too. The studio became far too popular, even I couldn't get into my own facility any more, so it had to go.

Hope that this helps... wink

'Construction Time Again' and the post-production work on 'The SIngles 81-85'

Also the Cure's album "The Top", and Bronski Beat.
I think more stuff was produced, or subsequently worked on at The Garden than was actually recorded there.
