So sad, in agreement with Mandy she was the best assistant the Doctor had, I loved the Sarah Jane adventures series too, some really good storylines. Had no idea she was fighting cancer, RIP. frown

Agreed with Mandy and Jojo - the best assistant the Doctor ever had. Very sad to see someone so young pass on.

Completely unexpected and very sad news...

After endless badgering from me my parents finally decided I was old enough not to find Dr Who too scary and started to let me watch it just as Tom Baker took on the part.

Tom and Liz were a crucial part of my pre-teen years and a great team on screen. She will be much missed...

I never knew she had cancer. I was shocked when I heard Lis had died on the 5 Live news late Thursday evening. This is so sad & comes just under 2 months after the death of Nicholas Courtney. Jo Grant was the first companion I remember but Sarah Jane was my favourite, followed by Leela & Tegan.

When I read back on her life I didn't realise how much she had been in including as a barmaid in Corrie. Forgot she was Liverpudlian too.

On the same day as Lis Sladen, Norwegian London Marathon & New York Marathon winner Greta Waitze also died of cancer.

Extremely sad news; had an unacknowledged childhood / teenage crush on her - loved the posh English accent. And English Rose character.

a great sad loss folks , me & my wife still watch Dr. Who & Sarah Jane was always one of my favourites in reguards of Dr.Who,s sidekick Assistants , Elisabeth Sladen was still a great looking lady for her age of 63 / shes well looked after herself over the years & i use too also have a crush on her , but i didn,t know she was suffering from cancer aswell (GOD BLESS HER)
Like you say (Pater Noster) she was a true english rose mate , just like Susannah York who we also lost earlier this year just after christmas . cry

Given that she fronted CBBC's most successful show and was part of one of the BBC's flagship products I'm a bit disappointed that the best they could do was a cobbled together 15 minutes on a digital channel aimed at kids.

Elisabeth was way too young. Such a talent. My favourite doctor is Tom Baker and I have happy memories of both Tom and Elisabeth. The Sontaran Experiment is one that pops immediately to mind.

According to the BBC there are three brand new episodes of The Sarah Jane Chronicles which are to be aired at a later date.

RIP Elisabeth frown
