I wouldnīt buy this album as it seems that there is no such thing...
Thereīs NOTHING indicating that Louis Gordon released a limited CD album. Nowhere...

Iīve asked in a shop for special order items, a DJ whoīs usually dealing with this kind of music..Nothing!

I just found little information about the label called Black Spot Records. There is no website! And thereīs only one band mentioned in conection with Black Spot Records: The Badways from Detroit?????????

WEIRD!!!! bemused

I just asked the seller for more information -like where heīd bought this cd..

Can only back up what Rob said.
I know nothing of this album lately, but from
an industry view i know this album Has Been Out
for quiet some time.
It is an official legel release.

[EDIT] 15.30pm
The louis gordon album sold on ebay was Not a pre-release or re-release. It was an original album which came out several months ago.
I do have other information, but i would term it as 'professional gossip'.
So this is all i can say, louis will obviously know more.

Is odd, isn't it. How is it possible to "release" a CD without any mention whatsoever anywhere on the Web? Takes some doing.

And what does "professional gossip" mean? Have John and Louis split up?

Im not sure where the confusion is coming from.
All i did was stated the facts.

1 As Rob said the album is around.
2 The only other thing i said is that it was released once, and that was months ago.

There is always talk in the idustry i.e. 'professional gossip'. There is always talk in the music industry just like in any place of work.
NO ONE AS SAID OF ANY SPLIT BETWEEN JOHN AND LOUIS. There is no real problem here, the album just seemed to come out without many people knowing. There ARE people who bought it, and John and Louis have still worked together since.

Even in those case's there is nothing 'wierd'.

Dear All

Loius does have a limited edition CD out called
Closed Gone Fishing.
It is not on a major label neither does it have a distribution deal.
It appears that the only place you can get it at present it from eBay or off Louis himself.

I have a copy that Louis gave me last week when we met him and John to discuss the impending tour.

Thanks
Chris
(for those of you that don't know I'm the teccy for John and Louis)

So... what does Louis's CD sound like? Is it the electronic stuff we might expect based on his collaborations with John, or is it something different?

With so many forum members, and most of us in our mid 30's +, it stands to reason that some of
us work in the industry. I think i know of about five now.
Thanks for clearing this up quick.

There are a very large amount of items unknown to fans that i/we could still give information on, to help fans on this forum.
Such as the 150+ live Ultravox recordings.
But when people misunderstand, and sometime's knowingly be provocative, i dont see the point.

I could accept your sorry if you had just said you were 'being provocative'. But to add 'worked, didn't it wink A' is not good.
Its not just me you have to say 'sorry' too.
It was Rob who wondered about what i was saying because of these type of comments.
He even had to send a message to me this morning asking what 'i' was saying.

Please think more in future.
Regards, Newvox

The album is available on the tour. I'm enjoying it *very* much. But then I'm a fan of The Lilac Time, so what do you expect!

Something further away from the JF&LG sound it would be hard to find. It's surely deserving of a commercial release - many of the tracks are good enough for regular airplay.

Well, I for one would like to heap praise on Louis' album. 'Closed Gone Fishing' is really good! It's exactly what I expected, some good wholesome tunes, a bit folky/skiffly/bluesy, with real instruments. Great cover of 'Space Age Love Song' by AFOS. Some really funny lyrics and sond titles - 'Captain Scarlet Silver Surfer' anyone? The perfect album to listen to in the garden as the sun sets. I think this proves that the band mentality still exists around JF and LG, but they're free to do their own thing.
Not a great review, I know, but this is an great album - EVERYBODY BUY IT!

Cerise: I'll keep it simple and on topic, so one group i have not seen here (or though it maybe of been)is Circusgirls.
The group that Louis played with in between work with John. Theres a third album to be released, but i think Louis played on there first only.

Yes, we know of Louis' Circus Girls stuff (have to say I prefer his solo album though!), but the Deep Electric Blue EP doesn't appear to be it. It looks to be a solo EP.

Solid information is fine - it's allusions to gossip or possible happenings that cause us hassle. If you have confirmed info that no-one's mentioned yet and you want to post it, go ahead - but please don't just hint at things, as we end up with a flurry of emails asking for info. Ta. wink

So what do you know about Deep Electric Blue?

Deep Electric Blue is a CD/EP that Louis has produced - the sound is more akin to the material he creates with John. It's certainly not like Closed Gone Fishing. In the time honoured fashion, I will post more information (including how to obtain copies) just as soon as I can... wink

A few thing I'd like to know out of interest - there are no real sleeve notes or acknowledgements on 'Closed Gone Fishing', so who are the other musicians on it. Louis does thank a few people, including jolly old Dennis, but who was involved in the albums making?

Gosh, "newvox" really delights in his insider knowledge and exciting secrets, doesn't he?

Does Louis actually WANT anyone to here this album he has "released"?
Or is it just some demos he's done and has given copies to a few friends?
How can an album be described "out" and "released" if it is not available for sale in any online or high street or mail order retail outlet?
