Has anyone seen the video John "worked on"/made/directed for LFO's debut single with Warp?

Its featured (apparently...) on this rather appealing DVD

http://betweenplanets.co.uk/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=942

although John Foxx is conspicuous by his absence in the track-listing confused

Cheers Rob.

To that production section at the Discography can you add the following, of which you are obviously aware of:

Pressure Points album and Heaven single by Anne Clark.
The Boy from Ipanema (something like that, can't remember the rest!)
Time Machine (original version) from Astrea Redux's Language album
Stars Return from Astrea Redux's So Very Distant album.

What are you like!

What's he like? Well, a relatively tall, thin, devilishly handsome and deeply knowledgable all round good egg!

Oh, and chips and pudding. He likes those also...

Is this a new thread born of another? If so Chris, what are you like?

PS I have a set of EVs waiting to be read during Christmas. I'll be enthralled at what Rob & Cerise had to say then. Ah! Those were the days.

only "stars return" was produced by john, but not "timemachine"!
it was once planned, but not done.
"stars return" is the only full song that john produced for astrea redux.
please ask axel of astrea redux, if you don't believe me! wink

I may have posted something similar some time ago. Apologies for the arrogance to presume anyone might remember when I can't wink Anyway, I remember seeing this video on The Chart Show at the time and one of the pop-up boxes they used to display mentioned John's involvement. A bleep classic, by the way. This and the KLF's "What Time is Love" (both summer 1990) dragged me into a whole new area of music for which I am occasionally grateful.

Mmmm...the liner notes on the Language CD says something like "pre-produced by John Foxx and recorded at the Garden Studios." I'll double check this. eek Remember we are talking about the original version of Time Machine as featured on Language.

What's definite is that Time Machine (original version) and Stars Return were recorded at The Garden Studios. Somewhere on Astrea's site it mentions that John finally preferred to finish Stars Return over the other. Perhaps that's what pre-produced meant. Days after, The Garden Studios were sold and there was unfortunately no more time to complete an album's worth of recordings.

Spoilsport LR!!! laugh We'll ask Rob to have a Pre-production section on the Metamatic Discography. frown smile

I wonder if Axel can confirm this on this Forum. He did appear a couple of months ago and it was a great pleasure and a great surprise!

here's what the liner notes in the booklet of the "language" cd by astrea redux says:

this version of "timemachine" has been pre-produced in 1987 for the recording session in the garden studios with john foxx, who favored "stars return" over "timemachine" though.

i suppose that this makes it clear that "timemachine" WASN'T produced by john foxx then!

neither of the versions of "timemachine" that were later released were recorded, mixed or produced by john at the garden studios!
i know this directly from axel, because i just made an interview with him and also talked to him in length about astrea redux' "adventure" with john foxx, so try to believe me- for now! wink

if you like, i can contact axel again and ask him to comment and confirm this info here in the forum too.

cheers smile
