Just try them out I reckon - you will find a musical instrument becomes like a part of your body - you'll find one and when you do you will know its 'the one'. Also - I personally dont like the feel of 'new' guitars so if you can get to a guitar festival or music show theres often lots of second hand buys that are nicely 'worn in'.
You will also need to become familiar with what you think suits your own personal style of playing when it comes to considering what you want from the fretboard. Some people like a low fast action, I personally like a slightly higher action because I pull the strings about a lot rather than running over them in a shred kinda style. You may also wish to consider the string gauges as they can impact on how you feel about the guitar. I find the shops stick too light a gauge on for me (9's I think) and I'm way to heavy handed for those - a ten is probably a happy medium to play with.
And once you've got your head around all of that and found your perfect companion - next comes the jungle of guitar amplification!!
