I've been listening to "Shifting City" recently - I'd forgotten what a great album it is - very unique. "Through My Sleeping" and "An Ocean We Can Breathe" are fantastic songs.

I've also discovered "The Golden Section" - I've had it on CD for about a year but never given it a good listen until now. Some great tracks on here like "The Hidden man", Twilight's Last Gleaming" and "Ghosts On Water". Some of the bonus tracks/b-sides are really great too!

One of the many things I enjoy about John's music is the variation - every album has it's own sound, style and mood.

Absolutely agreed. I love Shifting City too - particularly An Ocean We can Breathe. Lyrically speaking too I think this is one of John's best pieces.

Re the Golden Section. I saw JF twice on this tour and have a signed lyric book, but somehow the album doesn't work so well for me now as it once did. I wonder if it's JFs most dated album?? Don't get me wrong - still brilliant, and the b sides are very good as always.
The live album is great because "I was there' but again not up there with JFs best

I listen to quite a lot of different types of music but as JF's music goes it depends what sort of mood I'm feeling in at the time I choose a CD. I think this what Johns music so magical is the variation that Alex mentioned.
I also listened to the Golden Section last night and I agree there are some very good songs on it.
