Well it wasn't mine and it wasn't signed by me. In fact, mine was virtually unused since Don printed it in a smaller typeface than my tired old eyes can decipher. I need it printed on an A0 sized piece of paper which would obscure the stage, or placed behind a lens of such magnitude that any light falling on it would set fire to the paper and/or the building.... laugh
Besides which, I have it on very good authority that only one of the band can write...and none of them can read...one can juggle...and one of them can do things with an egg whisk that is illegal in 49 US states... bemused

Actually Mike, it's illegal in all states. It's just that in the other two, there's a rampant betting ring that makes huge sums of money on the outcome of the particular whisk action that's currently propping up the state finances. The two accept it goes on - see, they just can't acknowledge it, that's all.

The same with 'cake' fixing...

eek

'Cake fixing' is just a rumour. Its sheer coincidence that the President's baker is the governor of that state. Its not his fault that certain ingredients were excluded from the mix... And its nothing more than a vicious rumour that the exclusions were based on the ingredients "saltiness" and "consistency", everyone knows that the state's cake is fully mixed and there are just a few bad sultana's that spoil it for the rest...

Besides, since the two states you mention are deeply southern, they overcome the "whisk" scenario by claiming them as "personal comfort aids" to counteract the continuously high temeratures... I've even heard of the motors being souped up in the devices, sometimes with tragic consequences. But as you say, once big business and the underworld get involved it becomes messy and can become a "high whisk" business...

Self and coat already long gone... wink

Mike,

I think you're confusing the states and wrongly maligning innocent badly run and corrupt states. Only one is southern - the other is on the east coast.

To the issue of illegal 'cake fixing'. The currants were just planted there to make it seem like it was legitimate, but don't be fooled by this. The seeds of this outrage have been buried deep in the mix. You talk of consistency, but when the dusting has settled, and situations have cooled down, the base (and crust) of the matters have been seen as solid. Illegal cake fixing is a mess and a sign of the shelves, I mean times, albeit in these cases a smoothly laid out packaging. To put money into this is laying the foundations for society to crumble - there are so many people with an interest and wanting a slice of the pie on this and, ultimately, there is only so much to go round. The indivudual states get the cream and the ordinary people will come away with little more than crumbs.

Oh, the shame, the shame, the shame...

EG, its not just a currant problem, there are many historical pre-seedents. You only have to go back to 1789 when Europe was churned in turmoil and in desperate knead of sifting, when the French tried to get rid of the aristocracy (or "French Fancies"). Look no further than pastry-faced tarte, Marie Antoinette, urging the common peasantry to eat donuts (and thereby making her the patron saint of New York Policemen).
For hundreds and thousands of years, corruption and jealousy has been rolling across condiments from yeast to west. From the Danish 'king', Hamlet, to the present most powerful person in the world, Secretary of State, Cunninglinguist Rice, there has been a steady cry of "nan shall pass", "cake no prisoners", "bun for all and all for bun", and the whole thing has scone to pieces...

But enough of this political and historical ranting, the nurse has just arrived with my medication and I've got a "Carry On" film to watch.... excited
"Infamy, infamy...they've all got it infamy!" God Bless you, Peter Rogers... wink

Nobody mentioned the United States of America... wink
There are many more than just 49 states. You should see the state I'm in....and my kilt... eek
I should warn you that this thread is an illusion and any similarity to people, countries, 80's electro-pop bands and confectionaries is purely detrimental,...erm, I mean coincidental...
Beyond that, I claim the fifth, sixth and seventh ...AND the prize for recognising that an equilateral triangle is the same on the four edges, except on the fifth wednesday of February when it's held indoors... laugh

Now my brain really is beginning to hurt... confused

LOL..... it's weird, the only time you see the police anywhere, is when they are eating something! You see them in the chippy, in greggs, I think the only time they use the siren is when their colleuges have told them the kettle is on at the station!

couple of our police parked up in a dingy side road for a while late one night, trying to look like they were occupied on some important surveillance task, then when they thought no-one was watching them, they sidled out to the death van and ordered a couple of kebabs...

hahaha. That was funny, SiW.

It is a long standing joke here that Dunkin Doughnuts is where you go to find a cop (remember that song Walk Like An Egyptian?). That said, NYPD, though, has its hands full here. Hey, where else do you have 30,000+ police force to take care of all of us Nyers and all those damn tourists wink .

Helen: what is in the chippy? in greggs?

No no Helen: NYers love the scots.
It is the tourists from the midwestern USA we cannot take; clogging the sidewalks and taking a million pics while everyone is trying to get to work.
