ok, this is what I've got. There may be a few other bits and pieces lurking in unopened boxes but I'll post these up meanwhile:

Modern Man (Danny & Colin's band pre-Messengers)

Singles
(can't remember all the b-sides off-hand, but they are off the album anyway):

All the Little Idiots
Body Music
Things Could Be Better (12-inch)
War Drums/Tell Us Lies

Album
Concrete Scheme (1980)(both vinyl and transfer to CD): Good Time Ideology/Wonderful World/Cosmetics/All the Litle Idiots/Little White Boy/Wasteland (yes, THAT Wasteland...)/I Think You'd Better Go Home/I Couldn't Stop/Advance/War

Cassette
In Concert (recorded from Radio 1) 1980 or 1981: Song From a Cage, Little White Boy, War Drums, Things Could be Better, Wasteland, Monster Machine, Young Adventurers, etc, introduced by Gary Crowley.

Messengers
Singles
I Turn Into You/Semi-Professionals (12-inch)

Cassettes
Various Radio 1 session tracks (Peter Powell/Janice Long I think): Frontiers, Dancing Bear, Night Town, Departure, Woman in the Dunes, etc.

Home demos: about 15 tracks recorded on 4-track portastudio in 1982/3-ish (Great Institutions, Straw Boy, Dancing Bear, Departure, Welcome to Babel, Night Town, I Turn Into You, 3-D Men, Well-Tempered Man, Freedom Fighter, and others)

Other: 7-inch solo singles (1980-2 -ish) by Willie Gardner (Zones, Endgames) featuring Colin King on drums and backing vocals. Titles: Golden Youth/b-side, Imation/b-side.

That's all I can remember for now, but I'll dig out the old boxes and update soon.

Anyone interested - make me an offer!
Gack

Hi Gack, very interested in the Modern Man live cassette and Messengers Radio One session tracks cassette, drop me an email at ev@Ultravox.org.uk and I'll make you an offer.

Also, we'd certainly be interested in getting hold of the home demos, and if anyone out there has a four-track we could get it transferred and put up on the site if Danny and Colin are OK with that (though entirely up to them, of course). Just purely out of curiosity, how did you get hold of the tape? smile

depending on who owns the copyright on all the stuff mentioned, can we ask Danny & Co. to make another round of copying these songs onto CDs (even home made ) and offer those to the site community as they did with their new release ?? At a bargain prices of course...... <img border="0" alt="[The Finger]" title="" src="graemlins/thefinger.gif" />

Hi Everybody,

Gack's certainly a completist. I'm just hoping he hasn't any 'phone conversations in those unopened boxes.

As to the merit of the collection:

The Modern Man recordings are okay, with a few good moments.
The BBC In Concert had some ropey vocals, if I remember correctly.

Messengers singles, I thought we covered with the free download scenario.
Of the Radio sessions, only Nighttown, Dancing Bear and Departure were actually recorded in session. The other tracks would be were we just sung to a playback(just like a gig, really).
As for the home demos; Cerise, these must be stereo mixes, they can't possibly be the 4track multitracks. These are rough and are really not worth bothering about, just sketches.

The Willie Gardner stuff I wasn't involved in so I can't comment.

Dmitry, as to the copyright? There's allsorts involved, but it's such a drop in the ocean, I can't see a problem with sharing. I couldn't/wouldn't dream of selling this stuff even at bargain prices you'd be getting ripped-off.

Danny.

Danny,

Thanks for your comments here.

It'll be great if we can have some of these tracks not covered by the downloads be available exclusively on this website. It all depends if all who are interested in these items from Gack come to an agreement and agree to let Cerise have these copies so that with her expertise she can convert them into decent downloads for all of us to enjoy.

What do you all say?

Chris C smile

PS Danny is there any chance that we can get any Modern Man material on the website?

Hi again I would be very interested in copies of this material I saw Danny saying it's not worth paying for ,but here's an idea put it out to members for a fair price and any profit made could be sent to charity.
PS Sorry I think I pressed wrong button earlier and posted wrongly ( some people will do anything for an extra post )
