A man of few words smile

Most interesting bit :-

How much have you enjoyed being back playing live together again, and has there been any plans to tour another Ultravox album and write any new material together??

We have enjoyed it very much. We are discussing the idea of new material now.I think it would be very exciting to do that. Ultravox out next year touring and playing tracks from a new album. Yes

Some sloppy and cringe-worthy questions in there. E.g.:

"why was ‘Rage In Eden' chosen as the album to come back with and play live in its entirety? "

Good answers from Billy though.

They're discussing it, that's all. It might not happen.

I like what Billy said about the reasons for focusing on RIE.

The comments about new material are tantalising aren't they?
A lot of the other questions a bit daft - I can see why Billy only had one word answere for some of them!

I wonder if doing new material is worth the risks involved, yes it would be nice to hear something new from Ultravox but from what i have seen from other bands that have gone down this road when they have tried the idea its been a bit hit n' miss. The risk they run is in spoiling the incredible body of work they have created, just my thoughts wink

Good point from Si W.... OMD have made a great fist of it. I bought their album cheap off amazon, i wasnt even going to bother til i saw it at a low price. And that's me, who had all their albums to date on CD ! I just dreaded hearing it in case it was pants. But it isn't, it's a really decent album. Even a couple of the songs that sound like they may have been made by just Andy are still strong tracks.
I also hark back to Japan, they didn't want to reform as Japan, so the album came out as Rain Tree Crow. That was one of my absolute favourite albums of all time. I just love it.
Killing Joke's new album sees the first gathering of their original line-up, partly due to the sad passing of Raven. Again, a really good album.
So, with just those examples in mind, in my humble opinion of course, i just cannot conceive that the four Ultravox members who we have enjoyed seeing live in the last year or two, would produce anything other than a decent album, maybe even a great one. I wouldn't have the fears that i had with OMD. It's in their make-up to produce great songs. Billy has done some amazing material ever since Midge left, i thought there were some strong songs on Ingenuity, Revelation, and his solo albums. Midge has also done some great stuff on his solo albums. And with the influence and abilities of Warren and Chris with them, i would just love to hear anything new that they could come up with. There's nothing to lose either - their legacy at the moment is seen by some as having ended kinda badly with U-vox, so it's a chance to lay that ghost too. Some new material would for me be the most eagerly awaited album for 25 years or more, by any artist. excited

thanks for posting this interview gazza ,a great interview + photo,s aswell mate , i enjoyed reading it , i do hope billy & the rest of the guys will consider making a new album at some point , it would end off thier career very well ,like you say especially after the dreadfull 1986 U.Vox album way back then , dont get me wrong there,s a few good songs on that album , but it wasn,t the same without Warren Cann folks .

My sentiments exactly. I thought that Warren was that vital cog that was missing in the U-vox album

OMD have done a really good fist of it with their album, it would certainly be interesting to see what a new Ultravox album would sound like, whatever would be like, it can't be worse than 'U-Vox' for sure
