The update said it would be available as download only from June. Presumably he didn't mean this June...

Your like me for that, but you've had a fair amount of downloads too Ash. I can see why you like cds best still, its the format and artwork too.

Blimey! How long - or short - ago was it that folks were saying that LPs gave you so much more than these new CDs, with so much more artwork and texture on the sleeve to offer than that small, plastic-imprisoned disc ever could?

A very wry, tongue-in-chek "tee-hee-hee" is in order, I feel.

I understand re artwork etc - its nice to have - and its nice to get signed too! But I wouldn't NOT buy something just because it was a download only. I must admit that once everything is put onto my iphone all my cds etc just sit in a box. Having said that I also LOVE vinyl!! If anyone spots a copy of the transportation album with original artwork on cd put pref vinyl then let me know!!! I've been trying to seek this one out. I have the download but I want a physical copy but with original black and white artwork - I dont like the new artworks. The good thing about the downloads from Itunes is that they do feature the (virtual) original artwork for Billy's albums. Yes I'm splitting hairs but these things are important to collectors!

Another thing on artwork - the APOTS artwork is superb - I have a physical copy of that - great design work!

If there is a CD, I will buy it but I'm not into downloads either.

The original CD pressing of this album, with colour artwork (not the later black and white edition you mention) is currently available from a seller on eBay here , or if you prefer, from Marketplace on Amazon here .

Vinyl copies of the album are also available through an eBay search here .

Hi again Jus,

Billy updated his news page on 8th May, and this is what he said about his new album:-

'I start mixing my new album next week.

I have mixed 5 tracks already and I am happy with them. No definite titles yet. I will have finished the remaining five by the end of the month.

I am mixing with Peter Dudley.

I went my separate way from Voiceprint early last year & so my Puzzle label has now ended.

This new release, my 8th album, will be a download only release & will come out in JUNE.'


Hope this helps and clears up any questions re: the format it will be released in. Like you and many others, I'm looking forward to being able to get this sometime soon as 'June' has slipped a little.

Hey thanks Paul - you're a star!

I guess I have got myself confused in that the black and white cover is NOT the original artwork?

Where did the black and white one come from? I'm thinking maybe it does not exist in CD or Vinyl format.

The black and white cover comes from when Billy rereleased all of his solo albums on his own Puzzle label back in 2001. (Could be wrong with the date - can anyone confirm?) All were given new sleeves and were CD only - no vinyl, so there won't be a vinyl edition of the sleeve you mention. The original release of Transportation was on LP though.

Traditional CDS is the only way I play music and have not time for MP3S so please rethink the download Billy.

I prefer to have a real cd but with some assistance I think I have been doing pretty well with the whole download thing.

Guess Billy's new one will be another download adventure for me.

Its mostly likely to be a record label choice and not down to Billy alone.

The whole download thing is not too bad, but its just nicer to have an hard copy, even if mp3's are popular now.

Anyone heard anything?
