Hi Rob! To me it seems like the real deal - but then again, it`s almost impossible to be 100% sure. Unless you call Billy and ask him (serialnumber etc...). But WOW! I would really like to own this one, but I don`t have the money. Come on Chappie - GO for it!!! Thanks a lot for the link Rob! All The Best! Jesper

Such a classic synth. Missed out a couple of years ago on Dave Formula's Prophet 5. But with these vintage synths it's best to buy them fully serviced. Like you Jesper I'm going to have to wait a while before I can splash out on another synth. I guess with a Prophet 5 Rev 2 I'll complete my rig. The initial auction price is not too bad but as I said before it's best to find out if it has been recently serviced. Anyhow, the synth is peculiar for being a British make among the big names from Japan and USA. The OSCar flew well the flag in those days I wish the best of fun to the winner of the auction. Chris

I've had mine serviced to remove some feedback. It now goes like a B#%$^*D - Well worth the effort in my book!

Originally posted by Cerise: Hmmm. A few days ago, someone emailed Billy, asking to get an old OSCar of his signed that the emailer had bought from a friend, for his son. Now it rather looks like the friend is flogging it on eBay. Did Billy have more than one?? Cerise, Chris Huggett, the guy who had The Oxford Synth Co was giving them away to the likes of Billy, Chris, Midge & JF. Probably good for the PR side of things. I don't know if Billy had more than one OSCar, not unless he went out & bought another...typical ebayer really  The Life of OSCar http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/sep99/articles/oscar.htm
