Im the last one to join the forum and I am curious to check out your new stuff! 1984 was a strange year. Midge & Annabel Giles, Bob & Paula used to sit in the kitchen all night. Bob loudly rubbished Ultravox in front of me many times, saying we were burnt out and finished. PLEASE BRACE YOURSELVES FOR THE FOLLOWING VENOM CAPSULES. This coming from a man that needed Live Aid to revive his already fledging career. As it happened, it didnt cos when music is poor, it does not really matter if you have a "holy" aura about you haha. Midge was laying him self open so as to be used by Bob, who was pretty powerful in his mouthy way, as Bob new that Midge lacked confidence in his own talent. Well, well. How interesting. Annabel was hardly the quiet, mild type. A pretty girl made of steel and burning ambition that saw Midge as her passport to fame. Just like St Bob, she has only ever been able to get "bit parts" on tv and has always came across like a put on posh prat. False people p*ss me off. As well as the fantastic work Band Aid/Live Aid did for charity, and I applaud that, the Band Aid project gave him the confidence to s--t on Ultravox the group that made him. That is so typical of bands internal politics. Ego, self promotion, false horizons, the need to be revered... I work as a music journalist and promotion officer for underground acts and it goes on everywhere, no matter the level of the band or the music genre. It's sad but I guess the music industry is downright fascist. One last thing that I have noticed, however, is that Midge's solo stuff was diluted and never made me reach the same heights that Ultravox did. Straight up. No sh*t. I have been a musician for many years too so I am not just spewing crap for the sake of it but never mind. Billy's post was a small eye opener, I would need to read his book and Midge's and everybody else's... Px

Originally posted by CONNY'S PIG: Well, well, that's the first time I've ever hung on to every word of a post on this forum.....need a stiff drinkie now boy.......gulp....AAAH, that's better.
Not wishing to recreate a sh*t-slinging session again regarding Billy Currie on this forum, but it was obvious to all who had some common sense that there was a lot of foundation and reason [not excuse] for Billy's recent comments on his website regarding the LIVE AID dvd release. Even Billy's comments above may annoy, shock, stagger certain people on this forum but I'm glad he's put his ten pence worth in the mixer. There's lots of contrasting opinions, accusations etc and whether or not anything becomes of this is another matter. Again, I'm as happy as anyone that Billy did appear and speak up. Now, not trying ti lick William's arse or nowt a must say that I personally have always thought Billy was more talented as a musician than Midge ever was. Don't get me wrang tho'.....av got plenty o' time for 'Some' of Midge's tunies, but not many.
A great popular 'Misconception'. The opinion that a 'Frontman' is the most popular and talented band member....no thanks !!!
On a first visit to Midge's chatroom the other night I found it occupied by seven guests, all ladies The pig joins in and immediately felt like a thorn atween sivven rose buds The subject matter was suddenly Billy vs Midge vs TALENT. On waiting my turn and then giving my opinion [ as above, biased towards Billy] I was strangely challenged with an air of anger by one young damsel who fired the opening salvo.....
"Well, has Billy Currie had a solo number one hit like Midge has, I THINK NOT. No way is he more talented than Midge"
To which I replied.......
"So then, your opinion leads me to think that a person who has a number one hit is more talented than a person who hasn't had a one, yes ??? Well, if that's the case, JOE DOLCE has had a number one hit, ULTRAVOX never did [and we all know why ] My point being....does that make JOE DOLCE more talented than ULTRAVOX ??/
I THINK NOT I rest my case Finally, there's no particular message about what I've just said. Only, the world revolves on opinions and differences. You can't please everyone all the time eh. Some people will agree with Billy's comments, others may not. One things for sure though, it makes bluddy gud readin...... HEY BILLY, WIPE THOSE CUBAN HEELS ON THE RED CARPET SQUIRE Keep it up sunna !!!! How interesting is it reading through the archives! I have to laugh - yes that is so dumb re number ones v talent - I think I can guess where that came from - having hung out round the forums a while ho hum......
