CD thussly ordered through Billy's Amazon linky.

Chris/Connie's Pig: Am introducing my young'uns to PROPER music* after digging out my 100W bass bin from storage and hitching it up to some quality sounds purchased through this very site.

The neighbours complained, and they live on the other side of the island.

* I realise that saying this makes me look incredibly old. Which I am.

A loaded comment aimed in my direction? I don't know what you're referring to, but for the record...

If you think I've ever said anything to you that was unprovoked by your previous outbursts in my direction then I apologise on here for them. I can't think of anything that wasn't provoked, but you of course may well feel differently.

If I didn't respond to your private apology in the way you wanted, maybe that was because from where I was sat, I didn't think there was anything for me to apologise for at the time.

You never gave any inkling that you were expecting one so maybe you're referring to summat else; you'll have enlighten me... confused

Talking of Nissans... We drove a Nissan Almera while on holiday in Inverness - it had the worst gearbox I've ever used...and it accelerated like a shed nailed to the floor. Comfy though...

You should be so lucky ! Since the family are cutting down on Christmas this year ( Nativity scene a pale reflection of its Blue Peter glory years - Mary's become a single-parent family, only one shepherd (and he can only stay at the stable for half an hour because the parlous state of modern farming means he has to get back to "diversify") and the Three Educationally Advantaged Democratically Elected Leaders are all bearing Gift Vouchers) the only thing I could think of that I really wanted (apart from Helen Baxendale covered in marzipan and drizzled with Apfelscnapps ) was STILL MOVEMENT , so I have to wait another three-and-a-half-weeks to get my fix (and our Bill has to wait another two weeks for his tenner, or some meagre cut of this after packaging, marketing, handling, managemental and hot air charges have been rapaciously grabbed from it to his detriment). Mind you, anticipation is a fine aperitif.

I agree...listened to it and drifted into the heavens. He takes the granular synthesis sound even further to create this unique ambient sound.
Stately is the stand out track and probably the most upbeat.

For me it's up there with Cathedral Oceans.

Billy you are the Great Incontestable Star. wink

PS Billy, once I play it a few times more I'll add my full commemts on the album to your topic.

Please, pour light into my benighted brain: what exactly is "granular synthesis"? Sounds like summat fer t'do with the manufacture of sugar! The sleeve notes for "PUSH" refer to it without ever really explaining it. I'm sure someone here must know.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. The website stuff was pretty much what I knew already, and I was curious about why it's called "granular" synthesis, and how the technique differs from other forms of sampling and distortion (about which I know little more than their names).

That's a technical question for the maestro.

E-mail Billy via his website

info@billycurrie.com

Ask for Diamond Dave and say that Chris (from The Forum) sent you.

Billy's a busy man. He answers some e-mails not all.

With regards to John Foxx I email Rob:

robinharris@metamatic.com

If Billy's busy John's nowhere to be seen. I feel 2005 is going to be a big year for him.

What a passion we've all got for synth music.

I say...modern classic music Oesterreicher Zweiter...mmm Vienna !
