anyone I appreciate it's early days, but does anyone have any chords or notes worked out for any of the new stuff? I'd love to be able to play some of those myself! smile

Thanks to someone on the forum, i have the piano intro figured out and used that to get the bassline. Have a listen on Soundcloud.com/rowalk42/Brilliant-intro-cover-ultravox

Happy to collaborate on figuring it all out.....

Just had a quick play with it: the verse is D & G.

Hi, just had a go at figuring out the guitar chords for Brilliant. Here's my first attempt:

Intro - A G (repeat)
Verse - A G (repeat), until 'Hide away' when it shifts to
G Bm (repeat)
Chorus - F Bb (repeat)
Instrumental break (part 1) - Dm Am (repeat)
Instrumental break (part 2) - Am Bm (repeat)
Final chorus - F Bb (repeat)

Musically speaking I have to say that the chord sequences are quite interesting! uv

Hi there,

I'm not so sure about that G on the main riff... I had it as a Em7, and I had the instrumental as Dm / C and Em / D - the latter also being the bridge into the chorus.

There's a link to my version of the song in the covers competition section - so you can judge for yourself whether or not it sounds right!

Slightly off the 'Brilliant' (the track)theme, some kind soul has posted the chords for 'One' from Brilliant (the album) here:

For what it's worth, I think it's A / Em upto Hide Away, where the G /Bm kicks in!

Has anyone noticed how Midge sings the first line of this song differently in the live shows? Instead of "Somewhere sure, somewhere safe inside", he sings "Something sure, something safe inside"

Anyone have any feedback on the following......

Somewhere Sure, Somewhere Safe Inside
A-----A--------A-----G-----G--------F#---DE----
A World Where You Reside
G-G------A--------B-----D-C#--
Where chance and Trust Have Died,
G--------G--------G----F#---D------E----
A World Where You Can
G-G------A--------B----G---

Hide Away, Hide Away
B-----DB----B------F#B-F#
No Tomorrow, No Today
B---GB----G--- B---GF#--

You, The Brilliant Thing You are
A-----A---A---A----A-------A---A#--
Outshine Your Brightest Star,
A#-A#----A#---A#---A#---A---
Too Distant And Too Far Away,
A---A—A---G-----A----A#-FD---
You, You Legend Deep inside,
C----C-----C--------C-------C-D---
Religiously Denied, denied
D-D-D---D—D-C-F—C-D-F------

Ok so finally have a version of this to share....quite a task trying to unpick all the elements of the song, instruments, effects, never mind the music itself. No surpise there tho - the reason Ultravox are so good is the underlying sophistication of the music: Here's my interpretation...
