He's amazing. From his early recordings with Ultravox, through 80s Ultravox, Helden and now, he's been out of this world. Sounds that you have never heard before. He was pioneering on Hiroshima Mon Amour by combining real drums with electronic percussion. I was tempted in buying a TR-77 but ended up buying a TR-707  Chris

I agree. You can tell who's playing when it's him. I'm just sorry he lives in LA. Makes getting to see him live very tricky. Staci

Warren is my fave drummer too, and seeing him playing at Hammersmith on Sunday was amazing, tried to watch all the boys equally but my eyes kept wandering to the drums!!

but honestly I must say: The best drummer that I have heard in my lifetime is Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater. Probably on a technical level. There´s lot´s of drummers out there with more technical skills than Warren (Steve Gadd, Mel from Simple minds and probably Phil Collins too. I would probably not hear the difference between Mike Portnoy or the drummer of Porcupine tree. However, Warren is one of the few drummers that after a few hits on the skin, that you actually hears that it can´t be no other than Warren Cann. And that´s very important. Other drummers like him is Ringo Starr, Charlie Watts and Roger Taylor (Queen and even the Duran Duran Roger). Not brilliant technically, but you hear directly who´s playing. Hats off to Warren Cann! Kind regards Björn

Someone's been at the Translator again.........
Warren is a great drummer, but to say he's the best ever is a little one sided.
Other great drummers - Buddy Rich, Keith Moon, Roger Taylor (Queen), Ginger Baker, Cozy Powell, Tico Torres (Bon Jovi), Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden), Phil Collins, Larry Mullen Jr....
Like reggieperrin says, it's all down to personal preference and who floats your boat.

Of all the drummers I have ever seen live,Warren Cann is still one of the top side men. Then again,it often gets emotional as other drummers may be technically more brilliant, like, say Simon Phillips or Andy Newmark. I seem to remember Warren Cann played drums on some records in the late eighties with the french band Indochine, possibly even with Mark Brzezicki.Does anyone recall the specific albums and are they still in print? And whatever happened to the Helden project?

The Indochine album where both Warren and Mark performed was 7000 Danses . It's one of their best albums along with 3Chris
