Great! Will try and get the vinyl version. The black cover is a nice touch.

Great! Will try and get the vinyl version. The black cover is a nice touch. It is, isn't it? A lot of persuading had to be done before it was even attempted by Simon Ryan! Black Torque Point How?

One of my local stores said they will get them for me and I can then pick them up locally.

So ... you know how it is supposed to work? RSD is there for the local stores who are in big trouble due to lockdowns and when I can do something by saying "please be sure to have a copy so I can collect it" there is certainly nothing wrong with it. Some stores have no idea if any customers are coming at all and therefore don't know what to order and how many items. They cannot affford to pay for multiple copies and sit on them. And I cannot afford to drive 50 miles just to be at a store which does not have what I want to buy.

And I cannot afford to drive 50 miles just to be at a store which does not have what I want to buy. I have spoken to the guys in my local record shop and given them a list of the items I'm after. They have said that they will have some copies available (they don't know how many) and that it will be on a first come first served basis on RSD. Any unsold copies will then be available on general sale the following day. It worked out fine for me last year when I got the Sleepwalk 12" and the Gary Numan triple coloured vinyl. I did have to get up nice and early and joined the queue outside the shop at 5:30am! Well worth it and I will be up nice and early again this year

Record Store Day on Facebook:
"We're not quite there yet with crystal ball technology, so we're still going to be extra-cautious in 2021 and bring back the RSD DROPS. June 12 and July 17 will both be street date when great titles are released at indie record stores the world over. As with the successful RSD Drops dates in 2020, the focus this year is on supporting indie record stores with sales, and saving the big parties, shows, in-stores, crowds and celebrations for (fingers crossed) Record Store Day 2022.
As they did last year for the three RSD Drops, stores will be handling sales and store procedures in the way they determine to be right for themselves and their community and that may mean something different than you're used to.
We recommend you check in with your local record stores--join their email lists, follow them on social media-- so you're as in the loop as possible.
We'll be launching the List of titles for both RSD Drops dates soon."

Correcting myself, this pertains to the US release only it seems. UK (and Europe presumably) still June 12th. Well, not too hopeful finding it in my neck of the woods.

Got mine this morning, listened to the CD instrumental mix, it was strange not having the vocals kick in during New Europeans. Quite enjoyed it so really glad I managed to get one.

I think this Record Store Day thing is bollocks. Those who don't happen to live anywhere near a participating shop get left out. The companies should at least make enough copies so everyone has got a fighting chance. At the very least make them available as downloads at a later date. And I am not paying massively over the odds on Discogs or ebay so some greedy git can make a killing. I have been quoted over 50 quid for an 11.99 CD only two days after release. How on Earth is that right?
Whoever is responsible, take your limited edition Record Store Day items and - carefully but quite forcefully - shove them.

Managed to snag a copy of both CD and LP online, after closing time. Both on their way. Yay!

To be honest as long as you are happy with the purchase and can afford it then that's all that matters. Consider your purchase fully justified.
It is a shame that this release is so limited though, some genuine fans/collectors may miss out or be forced to pay silly prices to some scumbags who snap up as many copies as possible to sell on at inflated prices.
I hope everyone who want's a copy can get their hands on one for a reasonable price.

I also ended up getting one of the CD's from the Ebay seller at double the store price. I just looked. He's sold 97 copies.... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/393393427999As to how Record Store Day works... My local store in Bolton sold to customers who lined up first of all and put items on sale online at 6pm. I called in for the Who Face Dances LP early on the next day and was told the online customers orders had to be sorted out before they could tell me I could have one. All fair enough. They have never reserved discs for people - or let people buy two of something, though I am sure it goes on in some places. It is hardly the fault of the organisers of Record Store Day or of the participating shops when it comes to where their potential customers choose to live. Limited editions are limited editions - not just on record Store Day and I have missed out on things before now. That doesn't make me call the whole concept into question. I once queued overnight for tickets to an event that Ultravox played at back in the day. Because I wanted tickets enough to go and do it.

Remember all those days ago when the CD was a limited RSD release? You can buy it for a lot less than I paid through Townsend now. Yes, I noticed that too. I haven't looked at the issue that will be in stores yet. I would hope you'd be able to tell it apart from the Record Store Day stock. But if it's the same... oh well, at least I'm glad that I got one.
