Is the silence a reflection of this site or just tumbleweed about the release?

When I saw the title, I hoped it might be all the unreleased soundtrack music (Max Headroom, Come The Day etc). But it's still a decent compilation, and it's nice to have the single edits on CD and the videos on DVD.

That's what I thought: this site, not the release.

I do wish there was more unreleased or otherwise harder to obtain tracks but there are a few tracks and the DVD that are of interest to me so I'll be buying this one, maybe I'll try and get Midge to sign the CD boxset at the Vienna show in October? (I will more than likely try and get him to sign the CD booklet for the gift though if I get the chance)

You're basing that on the assumption there is much more available for release that MU would want to be re-released. Odd how 'Scotland's Sons' isn't on there, innit?

Just wishful thinking on my part smile

Any idea if this set going to appear on amazon or is it exclusive to townsend?

The CD will be on general release: the label is just letting the Chrysalis store & Super Deluxe Edition have a good run at it before opening it up.

The vinyl will not be on general release.

It's possible that Midge will have some of both on tour for the merchandise stall but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. IMO guarantee yourself a copy of the LP now because it's selling well over the first week or so.

I'm not a Vinyl man so only interested in the 2CD/DVD release, just hoping to see it on general release so I can save on shipping, I bought the Ultravox Extended CD from Townsend as I wanted the T-shirt bundle

I Will be getting the CD version. Seems a good comp, although I would have liked one track from Brilliant on it, just to give a nod to that album. Sort of funny putting a 2017 version of Fade to Grey on the vinyl, called The Singles 1980-88. I think the vinyl could have focused on his solo output 1982-88. Just an opinion of course.

Well there are only 3 UV tracks on there in total, with only two of them being played by the band so we would have needed nods to RIE, Quartet & Lament too and it would seem to be much less of a Midge Ure solo album.

And Midge is the 'compiler' as far as credits go so he's chosen the tracks that he wanted on there.

Yes of course. My point re Brilliant would be that it is the only album by UV which has never featured on a compilation. So this would have been a good opportunity for that, IMO. I could do without All in One Day, personally.
But of course, there are always things one would want to change with compilations, aren't there?
Still a good comp, as I said.

'All In One Day' seems to be something of a Marmite track. Personally I really like it and, in some ways, it was a fitting 'head-held high' end moment for the band in retrospect.

I also like the way it means that both CDs finish on an orchestral theme albeit the tracks being 31 years apart.

As for Brilliant, I see what you mean but there are only so many tracks that can be fitted on. Wouldn't you rather see them on an Ultravox release though?

Oh, I would welcome a new UV comp that included Brilliant tracks. Preferably a comp that not only focused on the singles but mixed it up with album tracks and live tracks through the years. Maybe someday...
I am not that fond of U-Vox, do not really like the singles off it. A couple of good tracks there, though.

Wouldn't you rather have stuff you haven't heard before like unreleased mixes, more WIP versions, rehearsals, live tracks?

Clearly Chrysalis are interested in providing new (or at least rare) stuff given the Lament reissue, Extended & now Soundtrack. Extended itself was a big investment for them in the LP version (you have to remember the company is nowhere as big as it used to be) but I think the overall positive reaction to it and the reaction to Soundtrack so far bodes well.

Midge has written notes for most of the songs, but some from disc 1 are missing, although it appears they may have been written and for some reason left out, as the Fade To Grey notes refer to "the aforementioned synth", which isn't mentioned anywhere, but would presumably have been in the notes for the immediately preceding track Marching Men (the synth always having been cited as the reason Rich Kids broke up).

The notes for Breathe refer to it being the orchestrated version, although it's the original 7" version that's actually on the CD. (Both versions are on the DVD, though.)

Both the credits and the notes for disc 2 track 12 are for the song Let ME Go (from Move Me), but the track on the CD is Let IT Go? (from Pure).

I See Hope is credited as the 7" version, but is actually the full-length album version, although it sounds like it's playing at a slightly higher speed.

I didn't realise (unless I've forgotten) The Man Who Sold The World had originally been recorded for a film soundtrack, nor that After A Fashion was a swipe at Steve Strange after Midge left Visage, although it makes sense when you know.

Hi all,
Just received my copy, good stuff generally. Did anyone notice that Warren Cann gets a credit on track 16 CD1 'All In One Day' single version? Surely it must be a mistake as Warren had already left the group. As far as I know Mark Brzezicki did the playing on 'U-Vox' although the rumours said the group had wanted Phil Collins to do the job.
Kind regards,
Henrik

Midge was asked about that on Twitter and replied it was a mistake.
