I tried a single drop of this stuff and within a few seconds I was hiccuping, burping, farting and coughing all at the same time. It really is lethal stuff and not to be recommended, especially if you ever experience asthma.....

Back on track, best wishes to Warren. laugh

Something like that would be good for clearing the sinuses, though! Put a few drops on your tongue, and swallow. Yum yum! nutjob

In yer eye eh. Think yersel lucky. Young Piglet got some on eez japs eye eek . Al kid ye not.

Ya see, mr drummer boy recommended the sauce and a nice lady from the states (DJ Kali) sent me two bottles owa, via the owld AIR MAIL. The postie knocked as they were packed in a lil cardboard box carry-on that wouldn't gan through tha letter-box. When a opened yon box a noticed one o' the bottles had smashed in transit. There was sarce all owa the shop!!! Smashed glass in amongst the rolled up newspaper packagin'. Even the vapour from the smashed borrle had uz in tears. A bit like yon post office cashier after a squirt of the owld ammonia. Not nice. Anyways, a hoyd the damage in yon wheely bin, weshed me hands and then went upstairs for a pittle. A thowt me hands were sorted, obviously not. Musta had a trace of the owld insanity sarce on me fingaz. After pointin percy at the porcelain a went doonstairs to catch the end o' Jeremy Kyle.
Me german helmet was ablaze!!! eek nutjob Jeez, it went on for a good half hour. A thowt me 'Auld Fella' was in meltdown. Painful??....you better believe it.
Never again!!! frown

So the poor guy'll just be back to fighting fitness before it's time to come and stand in a muddy field in an English summer (feel the rain) in 1961 (IoW time) and catch something else. Enter, LemSip as the rock'n'roll drink of choice, perhaps.

[Trivial Fact (as if any of mine weren't): The Isle of Wight was the last place in Britain to get Christianity. Monks from Canterbury were in such haste to spread the good word (and collect enough heavenly entry fee cash to buy the Archbishop a really fancy hat and an 18 carat party frock) that they hurried along the coast and forgot it was there. Silly monks.]

Is this the point at which someone comes in with, "What's brown, steaming and comes out of Cowes from behind?"

The answer, of course, is, "The Isle of Wight ferry.

I told you it was 1961 over there.

Do you not LIKE the Isle of Wight by any chance? smile

MUst admit I went there on holiday for a week a few years ago and it was like...England was back in my childhood. Odd place. Seemed to be the kind of place where people go to live when they retire...

Far from it. That is to imply that being in 1961 is a bad thing. I love the idea. I've actually been there only twice (the Isle of Wight, not 1961), once when I was around 18 months old and again when I was in my mid-30s in order to exorcise the ghosts of the first time.

I'm told that the South side of the island is best since it's the bit furthest away from the mainland so the least frequently visited, maintaining more of its "authenticity" (whatsoever that may mean). I'm told that walking and cycling are still possible as relatively safe pursuits there, although I know little of the possibilities of obtaining picnics, jolly nice cake and lashings of ginger beer.

Ahaaa...well I went down to the south side while I was over there and it had its charms - in a 1970s seaside kind of way. I'm sure they do cake and ginger beer...they might even do juicy red tomatoes...

I liked the place actually. Me and my better half stayed in a Warner hotel over there in "a room with a view" 30 yards from the Solent. Hearing the waves from our room was very relaxing...but we were the youngest people in the hotel by about 20 years I think... bemused

I remember holidays on the IOW as young slip of a lad. One year it seemed to rain the whole week & my only memories of that holiday are my Mum knitting in our hotel room & going out on the Friday only to find the sand was too wet to play on.

Mind you, there is a classic photo from another holiday taken at Sandown Zoo, where my brother is bawling his eyes out sitting astride a giant panda. roflmao One of the ones where you stuck a coin in the slot obviously!! wink

I also heard the other week that Blackgang Chine is rapidly disappearing into the sea which is a real shame. sad

The Isle Of Wight my holiday destination every year when I was a kid and a tradition I've carried on with our kid's now. I love it there and so does the family laugh

Sadly Blackgang Chine is falling away rapidly with a lot of what I remember as a kid now gone. But they are moving it gradually backwards and hopefully it'll survive a few more years yet.

The IOW festival has usually been blessed with great weather so here's hoping it'll be good this year.

Speaking of the festival I hear that ITV2 is covering it this year, be good to see the boys on tv if this is the case. A shame that BBC aren't covering it though, as there was a good chance of some of the boys set being broadcast on the red button service they are so good at for festivals. From what I remember of the ITV red button service it's pretty crappy frown

WOW, me too !! Mum's mate retired to the island, near Wootton; she has little money but a relaxed life. As a child I went on a school trip for a week; when i saw Osborne House (at Cowes) and the Wax Museum at Brading (what about the papier mache dinosaurs at Blackgang Chine? Special shout out for them !). I also went for a week with my Dad when I turned 21, as we both wanted to get away from the womenfolk of the family, lol. wink
