Whilst this site has 'Official' status, it's fan-run, with no financial support. If you do enjoy visiting and would like to help, you can choose to make a donation through PayPal - every little bit helps! It's entirely voluntary & helps us pay for ongoing costs such as the hosting, monthly mailing list fees, competition prizes, software upgrades and occasional fan events that we run. Thanks!

Covers Competition

A few years ago, Warren Cann laid down a challenge to everyone - a Covers Competition! For those of you with musical ability (and we know there are lots of you) it's a chance to strut your stuff.

There's a competition every year, so just jump in when you can. The 2009 competition has ended and judging is complete - you can hear the 2009 Covers Comp entries and winners here.

The next end date is 12 midnight GMT on Friday April 1st 2011 (Billy's birthday), which gives you 15 months. A short while after that the winners and runners-up will be announced - the prize will once more be a beautiful fully-signed Return to Eden screen-printed UK tour poster.

There are five categories:

  • Best Cover
Sounds most like the Ultravox [or related] version.
  • Best Re-Cover
Your own interpretation of an original Ultravox [or related] arrangement.
  • Didn't See THAT One Coming
Best cover in a completely unexpected style.
  • Best Re-Mix
Covers with a completely new arrangement and/or sound.
  • Best Original
An original piece which most sounds like something Ultravox could've/should've written and recorded - but didn't.

If you would like to enter the Covers Competition, just email your MP3(s) to Cerise at ev@ultravox.org.uk with the following details:

  • Your name
  • Your band name
  • The track name(s)
  • The competition section you would like it entered into

Feel free to enter more than once - you might even end up featured on the Home Page!
