Exciting news for 2010 - Ultravox's Return to Eden reunion tour continues in April next year with 6 dates in Germany, below. No further dates have been announced as yet, but we'll keep you posted as and when this happens.

There is also no news as yet, regarding the Roundhouse DVD release date.

As of today, Monday, 7 September 2009, the 2CD Remastered Definitive Editions of the Lament and U-VOX albums are available to buy. Once again EV has been closely involved with Ultravox and EMI in the processes of making these albums available once again, and we can now confirm the following.

As with the recently released definitive editions of Vienna, Rage in Eden, Quartet and Monument, the forthcoming re-releases of Lament an d U-VOX will take the following format: Disc One will contain the original UK album, whilst Disc Two will include all of the B-sides and extra tracks taken from accompanying singles, plus (wherever possible) a selection of previously unreleased material.

Additional to the physical release of these albums, four additional tracks are being made available to purchasers of the Lament definitive edition album via digital download outlets (such as Amazon MP3 Downloads and iTunes) only. These are extra tracks that were originally taken from the Love's Great Adventure 12 inch single released in November 1984 to promote The Collection album, and the 1984 German only release of Heart of the Country 12 inch single.

All audio and visual material that has been previously available was remastered between during April and May 2009 at Abbey Road Studios, London, with the previously unreleased material mastered for the first time specifically for these new editions. Previously available recordings were taken from the original master tapes, while the extra tracks were sourced from a combination of other sources that include EMI's tape archive and recordings provided by Ultravox. As with the previous releases, we believe the work that has been undertaken has given these albums a fresher edge that has not been captured on any previous editions and that everyone will be very pleased with the results.

As previously detailed, some of the previously unreleased material is, by its very nature, not up to the usual fidelity of studio recordings, but it has nevertheless been mastered to the highest possible standard. The decision was taken by Ultravox and EMI to include them for their 'historical significance'. These 'extra' tracks all capture moments that would otherwise have remained unheard and further add to the 'Definitive' nature of these releases.

Lament and U-VOX will adopt similar packaging to the previous definitive edition releases, i.e. a protective cardboard 'O' slip case box together with an eight-page full-colour booklet. The physical release booklets will mainly contain appropriate photographs and imagery, but sadly no lyrics. However, the individual album design has remained as we always intended and in line with EMI's guidelines for digital downloading, a separate twenty-page version of the booklets have been made available that will comprise the full design, including new and updated artwork not seen in the original releases, never before seen photos AND lyrics. Ultravox were again keen that the latter be made available to as many fans as possible and they can be downloaded for free from www.ultravox.org.uk.

One item we are pleased to announce in respect of the Lament re-issue is that the inner cover of the physical release has adopted the 'black squares on black background' artwork that saw limited release with initial copies of the album in 1984. This was subsequently replaced by the 'standing stones' artwork that that has appeared on all editions since, but is reinstated here for the first time. This artwork is only available for the initial run of the Remastered Definitive Edition and future single-disc editions will feature the 'standing stones' artwork.

Don't forget that the deadline for the 2009 Covers Competition is fast approaching! You have until 12pm GMT (midday) on October 10th to send in your entries.

We have an amazing prize this year for the overall winner: a FULLY AUTOGRAPHED RETURN TO EDEN SCREEN PRINT! This now sold-out large poster is beautifully printed in metallic gold, blue and black on thick art paper and was signed by Midge Ure, Warren Cann, Billy Currie and Chris Cross in Glasgow on the Return to Eden reunion tour.

There are five competition categories to choose from: Best Cover (sounds most like the Ultravox [or related] version), Best Re-Cover (your own interpretation of an original Ultravox [or related] arrangement), Didn't See THAT One Coming (Best cover in a completely unexpected style), Best Re-Mix (covers with a completely new arrangement and/or sound), and Best Original (an original piece which most sounds like something Ultravox could've / should've written and recorded - but didn't).

Have you taken photos or video of a show, a Voxgate or of meeting the band? Have you written a review? Do you have scans of press clippings, ticket stubs, passes etc? We're looking for anything and everything. You can send us scans or photos by email to ev@ultravox.org.uk (no more than 10MB total per email, please).

Scans are best at 300dpi. Digital photos are fine at 72dpi or higher but the minimum size should be 1000px wide or high (whichever is the longest). Please save as high quality JPEG files.

All contributions sent to us by 31st October 2009 will be entered and a winner draw at random. If you have already sent items in - don't worry, you have already been entered into the draw.
