BILLY CURRIE PODCAST & MESSAGE

Monday, 19 January 2009

Billy Currie
Billy has recorded a podcast interview for Yamaha Download, where he talks in some detail about equipment, the reunion tour and what might happen after the UK dates (those outside of the UK will particularly want to listen to this). He also plays refrains from Vienna and Astradyne. In his news update, Billy says:

Hi People.

I have an interview here.
Hope you enjoy.

Ultravox are looking forward to the Tour.
I am really excited about it. Very pleased we got it together again.

I have a new Electric Violin.
Sounds F***ing Great!
Boy hasn't technology come on since I last bought one. 1983?

Eh!

Best. Billy.

PRESS UPDATE

Sunday, 18 January 2009

Scotland Sunday Mail
Midge appeared in the Scotland Sunday Mail today, talking about the tour, the reissues and the Vienna song and how some of the video was filmed in Covent Garden in London.

The paper seems to have assumed that the band didn't go to Vienna at all, but some scenes were in fact filmed there, as hilariously chronicled by Paula Yates in her article Dearth in Vienna. Photographer Anton Corbijn took some fantastic images of the trip, one of which he kindly let us use on the cover of our final fanzine issue, Extreme Voice 20. In the same issue, the band talk about recording the album and filming the Vienna video; this extract can be found in our Media Archive.

A large version of the Sunday Mail article can be viewed in the Media Archive, or a text version on the paper's site.

Thanks to Stumcb for the scan.

"We don't write separately. We write together in the studio. We don't write on the road either because we concentrate so hard on doing it that you need an hour or so away from it every day just to keep your perspective".
