About us

Extreme Voice official Ultravox fanzinesWelcome to Ultravox.org.uk, the official Ultravox website, still known as Extreme Voice or EV after the fanzine which started it all.

When our 'EV' fanzines first started out in 1984 with the first issue being printed in early 1986, it was a small, photocopied affair for the price of three stamps! Over the years it became a professionally printed Official Ultravox Fanzine with exclusive interviews and photos of the band, and in 1996 we launched this website. We finally wound the fanzine down in 2000 at its celebratory 20th issue, deciding that it was a good time to move entirely to the web. You can read the official Ultravox fanzine here, all 20 issues in PDF format, which should answer many of your Ultravox-related questions (and maybe even tell you a few things you didn't know!). The early ones were a little rough around the edges, so start at issue 20 and work your way back. Enjoy!

We have so much content to add to Ultravox.org.uk that we don't know where to start! However, please bear with us for a while as we are working on some major Ultravox projects for EMI and Live Nation, which will be taking up most of our spare time for a good portion of 2009. Once those are out of the way though, we'll be turning our full attention back to this site. This is our hobby -- we both have full-time jobs -- but we wouldn't miss a minute of it. Cheers! Cerise & Rob. :o)

What to see, where to go

The Media Archive is the core of the new site, where most of its content can be found. Words, greeting message sound files, articles, mobile ringtones, Ultravox logos, wallpapers, video stills, Covers Competition entries, etc. We have photo archives from both Chris Cross and Midge Ure which will start appearing soon, and our own photo archives which we've already started to add.

The Forum is a vibrant, thriving community of fans, so please do drop in. You might run into Warren Cann, Billy Currie, Midge Ure of Ultravox or Danny Mitchell and Colin King of the fan favourite support band Messengers. There is also a Covers Competition, so if you are at all musical, feel free to jump in!

As many of you will know, Rob runs the official John Foxx website, Metamatic.com. To avoid duplication of content, coverage of John Foxx can be found at Metamatic.

Help us out!

If you have a little spare time, you can help to make Ultravox.org.uk even better by submitting content. Reviews of shows that you have seen, scans of press articles through the years, photos of the band, photos of venues that they have played in, scans of ticket stubs, badges, tour posters, tour merchandise, tour adverts, etc - we are always looking to expand the site, and all submissions will be credited in the Thanks to section.

Overheard

"We tend not to write anything while we're apart because if we do then the other three will take it to bits and put it back together again another way so you just keep to ideas. Writing a whole song doesn't work... not for us anyway because the other three are such strong personalities themselves".
Warren Cann
